Some problems may occur when connecting or reconnecting your Instagram account, due to Facebook and Instagram's APIs' nature.

If you’re not seeing your Instagram business account listed when connecting your account, or when trying to reconnect your Instagram business account after disconnection, the issue may be happening because of one of the three reasons:

  • Your Instagram account hasn’t been converted to a business account with a Facebook Page linked to it;

  • Your personal Facebook profile doesn’t have the admin role on the Page that is linked to your Instagram account;

  • Permissions for Simplified to access your Facebook account haven’t been set up.

Keep reading for troubleshooting.

1 - Check if your Instagram account has been converted to a business account with a Facebook Page linked to it. Here’s how:

  • Connect to your Facebook account > go to Pages on the left menu (or click on this link) > click on the Page linked to your Instagram business account.

  • Click Settings in the left menu, then click on Instagram. This will open the Instagram Settings information.

  • Click Instagram on the left side menu. On the Instagram Settings page, check if you see: a) your Instagram account connected to the Page, and b) a section that says "Business contact information".

  • If a screen from the one above appears, follow these steps:

    > Screen: has a button that says "Connect Account".

What it means: Your Instagram account is not linked to your Facebook Page.

What to do: Convert your Instagram account to a business account by clicking the Connect Account button on the screen, enter your Instagram login credentials and click either Log In or Continue (if you’re already signed up to Instagram). When you’re done converting your account, connect your Instagram account to Simplified again.

    > Screen: has a button that says "Get Started".

What it means: your Instagram account is linked to your Facebook Page but hasn't been converted to a business account.

What to do: Click Get Started and follow the on-screen instructions to convert your account to a business account. When you’re done, connect your Instagram account to Simplified again.

    > Screen: has a button that says "Review Connection".

What it means: Your account must be confirmed before third-party applications are able to verify the connection.

What to do: Click the Review Connection button and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm.

2- Check if your personal Facebook profile has the admin role on the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account. Here’s how:

  • On the left side menu, click Settings > Page Settings > Page Roles > Existing Page Roles.

  • You should see your Facebook profile name with "Admin" listed beneath it.

  • If any other role is listed under your name ("Analyst", "Editor", "Advertiser", etc), your connection will fail. You need to ask the Page admin to grant you the admin role, or ask them to connect the Instagram account to your team's Simplified account.

  • If you see a briefcase icon next to your Page name (on the "Page Owner" section), then you need to go to your Facebook Business Suite Settings and correct permissions enabled. Then reconnect your Facebook Page to Simplified.

  • If you see your name, profile picture and your Page name listed under "Page Owner”, then follow the next steps.

3 - Check if Simplified has the the permissions required to access your Facebook account. Here’s how:

  • Click on the drop arrow on the top right > click Settings & Privacy > click on Settings.

  • Click on Business Integrations on the left side menu.

  • Find Simplified in the list, then click View and Edit. A pop-up window will open.

  • Check if all Facebook Pages are checked in the pop up window. Expand the list if necessary.

  • After checking all checkboxes, try connecting you Instagram account to Simplified again.

  • If there aren't any individual pages listed on the screen shown above, then that means that you’ve previously granted Simplified permissions to access all Pages. In this case, you won’t need to check any Pages here, and you'll just need to follow the steps in the next section.

Fourth: If you followed those steps and

  • still experience the same issue; or

  • didn’t see Pages to add as described above,

You need to reestablish the authorization for Simplified to access your account with the right permissions. Here’s how:

  • On the "Business Integration" section, find Simplified on the list, check the box next to "View and edit", then click the "Remove" button above.

  • On the pop up window that will appear, leave all boxes unchecked, and click "Remove" again to confirm.

When removing Simplified from your Business Integrations in Facebook, this will disconnect any existing Facebook and Instagram channels you have connected to Simplified and those will need to be reconnected. The reauthorization steps will not remove any posts already in Simplified, they only re-establish your connection.

Do not change anything on the "Choose what you allow" option. Modifying those permissions will block Simplified form authenticating with Facebook and it will not be possible to connect your Instagram account.

That’s it! Now you can start publishing and scheduling posts to your Instagram account!
